Sea Grant Focus Teams

What is a Sea Grant Focus Team?

A Focus Team is a group of Sea Grant experts from across the country who are collaborating on a particular topic. Results of regional research projects in each area contribute to a national pool of cutting edge knowledge and capabilities. What topics do the Sea Grant Focus Teams cover?

• Hazard Resilient Coastal Communities  Web site (external)

• Healthy Coastal Ecosystems  Web site (external)

• Safe Sustainable Seafood Supply  Web site (external)

• Sustainable Coastal Development  Web site (external)

What is the purpose of Sea Grant Focus Teams?

Focus teams will help identify, coordinate and assess Sea Grant's activities in the focus areas described in the national plan. Similar to theme teams, focus area teams will:

  • Facilitate planning, implementation, synthesizing and reporting of Sea Grant activities and accomplishments in the identified focus areas.

  • Identify new opportunities and directions for national and regional initiatives.

  • Catalyze cooperative efforts among Sea Grant College Programs, the NSGO, NOAA, other agencies and NGOs.

  • Provide a mechanism to further solidify Sea Grant's local, regional and national identity.
